FCC Phasing Out Outdated Technologies, ZTelco Cutting Support

ZTelco is cutting support for legacy media such as T1, T3, DS1, and DS3 cross connects after a major FCC announcement meant to bring outdated technologies to an end.

In an announcement that’s sure to affect many businesses throughout the USA, the FCC makes it clear, outdated T1/3 and DS1/3 media types have reached the end of their life, and providers like ZTelco are beginning to take steps towards ending support for the legacy technology.

While this change affects the entire industry, most ZTelco customers have already upgraded to modern VoIP phone systems so there’s no need to panic, only a few customers are still using these media types within their dial plans.

Industry-wide Adoption

Our primary data center is going to begin phasing out support for these legacy technologies effective immediately. As phone and data vendors slowly pull away from them, ZTelco is left with no choice but to begin phasing out support for them as well.

ZTelco’s phase-out, away from legacy T1/3 and DS1/3 is a multi-step process that is scheduled for completion by July 01, 2024. After this date, no support will be provided. Customers using these technologies are solely responsible for scheduling an upgrade with us before this date arrives. The earlier the better.
